I’ll be honest with you: I feel for people retiring today in a way I didn’t fully appreciate when I started doing this.

Not because they didn’t save enough, or didn’t try hard enough. Because of something almost nobody names out loud — they’re drowning.

We assume the problem with retirement is a lack of information. It’s the opposite. A person retiring today has more information available to them than any generation in history. And that is exactly the problem.

A flood, not a shortage

Think about how your parents made these decisions. A pension. A bank. Maybe one advisor they’d known for twenty years. A handful of inputs, and a quiet room to think in.

Now think about your world. The finance guy on YouTube. The headline on your phone. The webinar invitation. The radio host who’s “just looking out for you.” The mailer for a free steak dinner and a seminar. Two advisors who told you opposite things. A brother-in-law with a strong opinion and a neighbor with the exact opposite one. A thousand voices, all day, every day.

It isn’t a shortage of information. It’s a flood of it — and almost none of it comes with any evidence attached. Just confidence. Just opinions. And underneath a lot of it, something worse: fear, used deliberately as a sales tool.

Everyone’s selling you an edge

Here’s the part that genuinely makes me angry on your behalf. Most of those voices are pulling you toward an extreme, because extremes are what sell. “Annuities will save you.” “Annuities will ruin you.” “The market always comes back.” “Get out before it crashes.” “Guaranteed eight percent.” “Never give up control of a dime.” Every one of them is loud, certain, and yanking you toward one edge or the other — because a calm, “it depends on your numbers” answer doesn’t fill a seminar room or move a product.

So you get whiplash. You lean one way, and someone scares you back the other. And eventually you do the only thing that feels safe in all that noise: nothing.

That is not a you problem. Anyone would freeze. You were handed the single most important financial decision of your life and dropped into the loudest, most contradictory, most fear-driven marketing environment that has ever existed. Of course you’re confused. Confusion is the rational response to that much noise.

You don’t need more information. You need less noise and more truth.

Here’s what I’ve come to believe after sitting with a lot of people who feel exactly this way: you don’t need another opinion, another webinar, another guru. You need someone to turn the volume down, ignore the extremes, and do the quiet, honest thing almost no one out there is doing — look at your actual numbers and tell you what the evidence says, not what sells.

That’s the whole reason our firm exists, and it’s why I operate the way I do. I came from a field — exercise science — where you’re not allowed to hold an opinion without the research behind it. So we refuse to add to the noise. We don’t sell fear, and we don’t sell extremes. We read your real situation against the seven risks that decide a retirement, show you where you’re solid and where you’re exposed, and explain how each tool actually works — plainly, honestly, including “you don’t need this one” when that’s the truth. No edge to pull you toward. Just the math, in language that makes sense.

If you’re exhausted by it, you’re not the problem

If you’ve read everything and somehow feel less sure than when you started — I promise the problem isn’t you. It’s the noise. We do something called a Retirement Second Opinion: no pitch, no fear, no extreme. Just a calm, honest reading of where you actually stand, so you can finally stop spinning and decide with confidence.

You were never short on information. You were short on someone willing to tell you the truth without selling you something. That’s what we’re here for.
